Tretinoin
Tretinoin often known as Avita, Retin-A and Renova is a derivative of Vitamin A. This product is very good when it comes to treating various skin conditions such as acne, blackheads and whiteheads. It is often available in gels or creams. Once it is applied to the skin it is able to reduce the effects of negative products on the skin. This will ensure that the skin is not only clear but will remain healthy in the near future. It is also proven that tretinoin is very effective to treating wrinkles.
Tretinoin works by changing the skin cells by modulating gene expression, rather than killing the cell. The effect of tretinoin is the speeding of skin cell turnover, reducing breakouts and producing smoother, younger looking skin. Melanocytes, the skin cells responsible for skin pigment, are suppressed by Tretinoin. This decreases skin discoloration and uneven skin tone. As a result, fine lines and wrinkles are reduced, skin feels smoother and looks more evenly colored.
Tretinoin affects acne by unclogging the pores and this also allows for the affected skin to be peeled off. Once the pores are unblocked the skins natural oil producing glands can function normally and reduce the formation of blackheads (comedones) and spots. In addition, tretinoin increases the turnover of the skin cells, which aids the natural exfoliation of the outer layers of skin. US FDA approved it in 1971 for topical treatment of some forms of acne.
